The Lower Deschutes has been fishing well. Lots of fish are still coming on caddis in all stages. Nymphing caddis nymphs during non hatch times and dries when the fish are on the surface has been great. In addition to caddis, jigged leeches, san juans, micro-mays, duracells, and soft hackle pheasant tails have all been productive. Best to use some splitshot or heavy tungsten flies during the heat of the day to get down nice and deep where the fish are lying. Swinging around sculpin, crayfish, leeches, and small buggers is another fun way to get some eats on the D.
