Metolius River Update 4/8/22

Metolius River Update 4/8/22

The Metolius has been fishing well. Springtime means more bug activity and on any given day you may see an array of caddis (brown, gray, green, yellow), mayflies (yellow/BWO), and maybe some salmonflies as the weather heats up. Nymphing continues to be the most consistent method for picking up fish. A stonefly nymph followed by 12”-18” of tippet and a small mayfly or caddis imitation is a great method. For targeting Bull trout swinging streamers or fishing them under an indicator is the best way to go. Don’t forget that the river above Allingham bridge is closed and doesn't open until May 22. Spring is an awesome time to be on the Metolius and fishing should only continue to improve as we move into summer.
