Reports from the Lower Deschutes have been light, with fewer anglers out due to the seasonal river closure from Warm Springs down through South Junction. Nymphing remains your best bet, especially with tungsten flies for those deeper runs. Stoneflies and eggs are always reliable choices.
For steelhead anglers, swinging Intruders and Hoh Bo Speys on a sink tip can be effective, especially with longer, steady swings. Steelhead season is still open through December, so it’s worth a try if you're up for the challenge.
Note: Warm Springs through South Junction is closed until April 22nd.
