Lakes Update September 13th, 2024
September 13, 2024
East and Paulina are still fishing well! We’ve had success with balanced leeches, damsels, chironomids, and callibaetis, which we have been seeing some awesome hatches of lately. Keep in mind we might not be seeing them for much longer. If you’re looking for a bit of a change, try using a Beetle, ant, or chubby pattern instead of an indicator. For a bit of variety, stripping small buggers or baitfish patterns has been producing some good results. Paulina’s been working similarly, so if you’re headed there, keep that in mind. Please note, due to the fires Paulina and East are both at level 1 evacuation advisory, meaning you can still fish it but depending on the winds and how the Flat Top Fire and Firestone Fire behave, that could very well change. Three Creeks Lake has been solid, too. If you haven’t fished it before, I highly recommend it. Stripping small streamers and using suspended flies like balanced leeches and chironomids under an indicator have been working really well. But for some top water fun, darker callibaetis and black dancer caddis are also making an appearance at Three Creeks. Hosmer is now open again after a few days but is still inaccessible via 42 so you'll have to take the long way.
