Lakes Update October 11th, 2024

The lakes around Central Oregon are transitioning into their fall patterns, with cold nights bringing more action during the warmer daytime hours. The fishing at Paulina has been slow to start, but purple chubbies and beetles have all brought in some nice catches. Look out for the big brown trout too! There are no docks out at Paulina so keep that in mind before heading that way. East Lake is starting to see stronger action with colder nights getting fish feeding actively. Try ants, beetles, and streamers like leech patterns and Balanced leeches in an olive color. Wading around the edges of the lake is productive so even though there's no docks, fun can be had. Hosmer has been on fire lately. Red ice cream cones, scuds, and water boatman are also bringing in fish. The fishing at Crane Prairie has been pretty good and seems to pick up steam around midday. Balanced leeches, beetles and ants are working well.
