East has been fishing well. Fish are well spread throughout the lake, and are accessible to those fishing near shore and in the shallows. The Kokanee spawn is definitely on so there will be a lot active fish near shore. Trout are not necessarily concentrated in the same vicinity as the Kokanee, and a large portion of the lake is providing consistent action for the beautiful Rainbows and big Browns that have been somewhat common this year. A variety of methods can provide success, and we’ve been hearing good feedback from Folks throwing dries, nymphs, and small streamers. Nymphing is the most productive approach on most days, and fish are being caught under small indicators and dries in the shallows as well as under indicators in water as deep as 20 feet or so. Wooly Buggers and Leech patterns are getting a good amount of attention from aggressive fish throughout the lake as well. There are still a few Callibaetis here and there, but most of the insect activity is comprised of midges. Fish are looking up and will opportunistically take a Callibaetis, Terrestrial, or attractor pattern but don’t expect to see lights out dry fly fishing.
