As fall settles in, the Crooked River is shaping up nicely, with steady flows keeping conditions optimal for fishing. Afternoon Blue Wing Olive hatches are happening from noon to 3 PM, making it a prime time for dry fly action. Be sure to have an assortment of effective patterns ready like the always-reliable Purple Haze.
Mahogany Duns, PMDs, and tan Elk Hair Caddis are also starting to make appearances, adding to the excitement. For nymphing, try Perdigons, jig Napoleons, and two-bit nymphs, which have been effective lately. Additionally, look for Zebra Midges and scuds.
With the best of the season still ahead, now is a fantastic time to get out and enjoy this river. If you’re interested in maximizing your experience, consider booking a guided day. Happy fishing!
