The Crooked River has experienced an amazing transformation from last summer to this. The flows are steady now, the hatches pretty consistent and the numbers of decent redbands are certainly up. Caddis and PMD hatches predominate in the summer and recent trips have proved really productive, nymphing early and dry-fly fishing into the afternoon. Last-light caddis can be really good, depending on the wind! While certain stretches of the river can be busy, just remember that there are ten miles to fish. Cover some ground. You’ll find productive water.
