We would like to extend a humble and grateful thank you to all of our customers, guests, and friends that have walked through the doors of the fly shop walked with us on the banks of our beautiful rivers and fished with us on our boats this spring and summer! Your support to shop local and fish local has been graciously appreciated. While the current global pandemic has created challenges, our team has stepped up to provide the safest environment, in the shop and on the water. We will continue to follow the Oregon State Marine Board and CDC guidelines to keep you safe and secure.
The lakes have fished wonderfully and will continue to fish well. The Lower Deschutes has been on fire, with the fish looking up at mayflies and caddis. The best time to dry-fly fish is when the water is shaded, but nymphing and swinging trout flies have been productive during the heat of the day. A silver lining of a late start to the season is large fish that have seen less pressure. The Upper Deschutes, Fall, and Crooked River will always be consistent fisheries but do see more pressure this time of year from travelers outside the area.
In the fly shop, we will continue to offer curbside pick-up and normal operations inside the shop. The team is constantly wiping down surfaces and sanitizing the shop to make for a comfortable shopping experience. We intend to honor your loyalty to us by being here for you regardless of whether you are looking to pick up a half-dozen flies or book a multi-day camp trip. Our goal is to care for our community, to be an objective source of fly-fishing information, a purveyor of the best gear, a guide to every angler, and an inclusive family that welcomes everyone.
Fly fishing, in our humble opinion, is the most appropriate activity of social distancing. We have found a way to make fishing fun and safe at the same time. While you may not see our smiles behind our masks, we are smiling with our eyes. So, from the Fly & Field team, thank you for your continued support in the fly shop and on the water. It is you that makes our smiles possible.
