Upper Deschutes Update

Upper Deschutes Update

The Upper Deschutes has continued to fish well, and should remain steady with warmer weather in the forecast. It is a great time to target aggressive fish with stimulators and terrestrials, nymphing is the best method to find fish in deeper pools or along cutbanks. Water both above and below Crane has been producing some quality fish, we have been seeing good numbers of quality brookies in the upper stretches of the river and some nice browns in the lower stretches. Throwing a streamer can be an awesome way to mix things up and target some of the larger fish, it may not produce the numbers other methods will but can provides opportunity to find a large, aggressive fish or two.

Suggested Dries: Black Stimulator #14-18, Peacock Chubby Chernobyl #14-16, Black or Cinnamon CDC Flying Ant, Purple Haze #16-18, Parachute Adams #16-18

Suggested Nymphs: Soft Hackle Pheasant Tail #14-20, CDC Pheasant Tail #14-18, Copper or Black Copper John #16-18, Newbury’s Zika Jig, Purple or Black Zebra Midge #18-20
