Lava Lakes Update

Lava Lakes Update

This is one of our favorite times of year to fish Lava, with the cooler temperatures the fish are well spread throughout the lake and relatively easy to find. We concentrate most of our efforts on shallower areas, and fish primarily under an indicator. Stripping a leech pattern or Wooly Bugger should also find fish, but the best numbers will typically come on Chironomids, Baetis, and buggy attractor nymphs fished within a few feet of the bottom. With the weather beginning to turn and chilly, windy days becoming more common Lava is a great option for anglers wanting to fish the Cascade Lakes without getting blown off the water. It can get choppy and miserable on Lava, but its smaller size provides a little more protection from the elements than some of the larger lakes in the area.
