Lava has upheld its reputation as one of our favorite early season lakes to fish. The weather in the Cascades has been beautiful, and there has been lots of sunshine to enjoy and warm the waters of our favorite lakes. On windier days, Lava offers some great protection and has many areas that are much more manageable to fish than other lakes in the area. We have been seeing the most success while fishing under an indicator, but there are certainly fish to be found when stripping leeches and wooly buggers on an intermediate or sink tip line. On the right days, we’ve also seen a substantial amount of surface activity, and terrestrial bugs like ants and beetles have started to attract attention.
