Lakes Update September 6th, 2024

East and Paulina are hard to lump together because, despite how close they are together, they have a tendency to fish rather differently from one another. Both lakes continue to fish well on balanced leeches, chironomids, and damsels. Using a beetle, ant, or chubby pattern rather than an indicator is a good idea especially near weed beds or close to the bank. East lake specifically is finally having an awesome callibaetis hatch again so its time to get those dries back out. Stripping small buggers or baitfish patterns has also been producing some fish.  The same sort of things have been working on Paulina as well. Three Creeks Lake has been good, stripping small streamers and suspending flies like balanced leeches and chironomids under an indicator has been working well.

At Three Creeks Lake, darker colored callibaetis and caddis, specifically black, will be a good go-to. I recommend getting out there and fishing until dark if you can, it’s a truly underrated lake.

Hosmer really started to fish great last week with damsels, chironomids, leeches and ants. Chubbies as well as hoppers could prove productive, but dry flies seem to be tapering off a bit lately.
