If you’ve ever wondered what a multi-day camp trip on the Lower Deschutes River during the famed Salmonfly hatch is like, this is your year to find out! We are now booking trips for the 2019 season and would love to host you on our favorite stretch of the river. Year after year we are honored to share such a magical place and time with so many anglers. The canyon in the spring is green and full of emerging life. The Osprey and eagle are back. Patches of wildflowers speckle the rolling hills and layers of caldera. The fish awaken to the great, big fly and the river comes exploding to life. It’s just an epic time to be down there. Let this be the year you finally get down for the hatch, or a year when yet again you make the trip you can’t stand to miss.
This year, from the look of things right now, we predict another fairly early season for the big bug. If we don’t get a cold, late winter blast, the Salmonfly nymph will begin its astonishing migration right around May 1st. Then, all things being equal, we should have adults flying around by the 8th or so. Again, this is all water temperature-based and can slide one way or the other based on discharge from the dams and what kind of late-winter/early/spring we have. We would hazard a guess that by Mother’s Day weekend and on to Memorial Day we should have a good chance of running into the big, clumsy fly.
We can host groups from two to ten anglers. Year after year our camp is the sweetest in the canyon. We provide a fully stocked, comfortable camp with big, well-insulated tents furnished with cots and pads, incredible meals and skilled guides to take care of every detail, all out amongst the most dramatic beauty imaginable. The multi-day trip is our favorite to run. Come see why!
