Fall River In Late August

Fall River In Late August

The ODFW Stocking Schedule has been completed for Central Oregon streams. They will continue to stock some of the lakes through October but the last of the fish for the year have been put in the Fall River. Sometimes those guys at the hatchery will sneak fish in here and there but for the most part,  the fish we have now are the fish we have until stocking efforts pick up again in the spring. This being said, it can be a really good time to be on the Fall River! There are plenty of fish to be found and with enough persistence, enough fish to be caught. The river can be a lot of fun when the fish are in there. This can also draw out the crowds. Please remember to be courteous to other anglers and respect their zones. Try your best to not hop right in their water. There is plenty of water for everyone to spread out and find some fish!

The fishing tactics remain consistent. Focusing on nymphing unless the PMDs are coming off. Our go to nymphs have been sz 12 copper johns (red or copper), sz 18-22 zebra midges (purple, red, or olive) and lastly our beloved sz 18-20 pyscho prince (purple or orange)
