The sun has been out for the past few days and the warm weather has gotten things moving around for us a bit more!  The Cascade Lake highway is closed at the Lava Lake entry point. You are unable to access from town, going past Mt. Bachelor, at this point. Please remember to use Road 42 through Sunriver to access the lakes.

Little Lava lake is looking great! Nice, clear and cold water at this point. We are seeing early signs of Callibeatis and expect to see more in the next few weeks. For now, focus on fishing subsurface with callibeatis nymphs, midges, and red copper johns or pheasant tails.

“Big” Lava Lake is starting to turn on as well! Seeing early signs of callibeatis here as well. Focus your efforts on stripping wooly buggers and leeches under an intermediate line. If you are not getting any takes that way, switch your methods over to bobber fishing. Fishing a callibeatis nymph, green hares ear, and red, black, or purple zebra midges.
