Fly
Fishing Trips on the Deschutes River Oregon:
These are our most popular guided fly fishing
adventures. There are few places as spectacular as the
lower 100 miles of the Deschutes River. This tail water
fishery boasts great numbers of both wild “Redside
Rainbow trout” and Columbia River Steelhead. This
section of the Deschutes River flows with incredible
white water and towering basalt canyons.
Your lower river journey begins below
the Pelton Regulating Dam on the Warm Springs
Reservation. From there the river flows fast and furious
through the vast high desert and into the remote
Deschutes River Canyon spilling into Maupin, Oregon some
40 miles down river. We offer 3 to 5 day trips in this
area focusing on spring and summer Rainbow Trout as well
as Steelhead in the fall. Along with the upper canyon
stretch we also offer guided fly fishing trips on the
lower 30 miles to the mouth of the Columbia River for
early entering Steelhead. This section is typically
inundated with Steelhead by the first week in August and
remains fishable through October. These early “arrivers”
come aggressively to the traditional wet fly and often
rise to skating flies. It’s a little heart attack just
waiting to happen. This water is big and open….an ideal
environment for the two handed Spey rods.

Regardless of your Deschutes River Multi Day Fly Fishing
Trip choice you can expect first class camp
accommodations that include comfortable cots, roomy
weather proof tents and even a hot shower. All you need
to do is show up with your sleeping bag and your
appetite and we take care of the rest. Oh yea, appetite,
our food is out of site. This isn’t beans and wieners on
the campfire. This is Pork Tenderloin, Ahi Tuna, Top
Sirloins all prepared by our camp chef…”The Bagger”. Our
advance boat called “the Bagger” is our river mule. The
Bagger moves all your non-essentials and our entire camp
down the river daily putting it all back together and
awaiting our arrival in the evening. Without him the
guides will have to cook and you don’t want guide food
while on you multi day fly fishing trip. After a fat
dinner you’ll enjoy falling asleep to the ramblings of
the river as well as an occasional Burlington Northern
freight train passing the canyon by. The remarkable
setting that the Deschutes River offers makes for
lifelong memories and great friendships….not to mention
the amazing fly fishing Deschutes River has to offer.
And the best part, you get to do it all over the next
day. You awake on the banks of the Deschutes River to
the smell of a hot and hearty breakfast that is if you
didn’t already jump off your cot and wader up for a
little early morning fly fishing constitutional. Our
typical day on the water includes a streamside lunch and
fly fishing until you need rotator-cuff surgery. When
your on a Deschutes River Multi Day Fly Fishing Trip
there’s always water around camp if you still got it in
ya.
Our
camp accommodates up to ten anglers comfortably and we
try to maintain a 2:1 ratio when possible. We welcome
even the non-fisher on the trip. The Deschutes River
Canyon has a lot more to offer than Fly Fishing although
we’re not sure what that is. All kidding aside, birds of
prey, wild flowers, unreal geology, and lots and lots of
wild critters will fill up your bino’s. This Deschutes
River Multi Day Fly Fishing Trip is truly a once in a
lifetime experience for many and we dare you not to want
to come back!
